Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator – An AED (automated external defibrillator) in the workplace is an invaluable addition to health and safety provision for your employees as they are proven to save lives. With installation of any AED we highly recommend you train personnel in its usage.
This QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (QCF) qualification has been designed to provide candidates with the skills needed to administer safe, prompt and effective basic life support and use an AED safely in emergency situations.
The majority of people who survive a cardiac arrest are resuscitated from ventricular fibrillation (VF) by the administration of a defibrillatory shock. This is most likely to be successful when it is given very soon after the onset of VF; emergency service personnel are often unable to arrive soon enough to help a victim.
